Forensic Teaching Materials
My brother teaches a Forensic Science elective to high schoolers and wanted to incorporate more hands-on activities into his classes but was stymied by the price of molded plastic teaching materials. Together we 3D printed a number of bones and designed a lesson plan to instruct students on how to differentiate between human and common animal bones they might find outdoors.
This project won a first-place prize in the Instructables Project Based Learning contest: see the project here
The human bones, belonging to an adult woman
The students had to identify the bones and determine which ones were human
Various animal bones, mostly white-tailed deer
The students had to practice proper evidence-collection procedures
